It is "Go Wolves" time again. Bailey put on her new uniform and cheered with the CTMS cheerleaders. She loves those girls and they love her right back.

Last year she was terrified of the "mean wolf" but due to the student inside the suit having a personality this year she LOVES the "mean wolf". She even got upset when he had to leave.

Bailey wanted to sing happy birthday to her Daddy. As you will see she did it pretty traditional in the first video, and then she added her touch to the second one. So cute!

First Day of Pre-K!

It is funny that I was aprehensive about Pre-K because it was a big change but not so much for Bailey. She got up at 7:15 and asked if she could go to school now. She was so excited to see Mr. Will when she got there. She even turned into teacher mode and proceeded to tell him that his class was down the hallway. She then walked right into her classroom greeted her best friend Margaret, put her backpack away and started playing. I had to ask for a hug. I am pround and sad that she is growing into a very independant little girl.

Here is my beautiful new niece. Miranda Skye Marlow was born July 5th at 1:33pm. She weighs 8lbs 1oz and is 20 1/2 inches long. Mom, Dad, Austin, and Ariana are all doing well. Although Ariana's world has been ROCKED!! I may just have to family adopt her and let her come live with us! Scott and Joann kept making remarks about how quiet Miranda is being. I am wondering at what point I should remind them that Bailey was the same way and God bless her she is not quiet now!

I was amazed we got all the kids to sit still long enough to "say cheese". Miranda didn't mind a bit.

Dad was so excited to welcome his 4th grandchild. We were so lucky to have Janie there also to share the day.
Congratulations Scott, Joann, Austin and Ariana. We love you!

"Stay"-cation Part 2

We also went to the Great Wolf Lodge for a few nights. We went in the middle of the week while everyone else was at school and the place was EMPTY. It was great! Our room had a great inset room with bunk beds for Bailey and yes she slept on top. She loved it. Of course she wanted me to sleep on the bottom one. The room was huge . It was very nice. Bailey even had her own flat screen tv in her "room".

At night they had story time by the animated clock tower and all the kids gathered in the jammies.

Bebe came to visit for story time too!

Bailey was such a daredevil when it came to the waterpark. They had a wonderful section set up for little kids with all kind of fun stuff. The slides were her favorite. Spitting water came in a close second. She really enjoyed the wave pool. Kevin hung out with her for a while and let me run off and be a kid on the big slides. Wow I am sure not as young as I used to be but I had a BLAST!.

"Stay"-cation (September 2008) Part 1 ~ Dinosaur Valley

So we decided to do a "stay-cation" this year. Kevin took off a week and we took advantage of some local attrations. I took Bailey to Dinosaur Valley. She had a blast look for the tracks. Her sweet little feet disappeared in the claw parts of this track.

As we were driving around she was "reading" us the history of the park. (ok or maybe it was more about ketchup and fish)...LOL

We all had a great time and can't wait to go back.

10 Years

10 years ago today God decided to call my mother home. I guess He needed His best angel by His side. I will never forget that day. Dad called me at work and said that Mom had fallen and he was calling 911. I just figured that he wasn't able to help her since he was awaiting knee surgery himself. I got to the house just in time for them to put her in the ambulance and I rubbed her leg and said "Mom, I am here". She wiggled her leg and the paramedic said that was the first response they have gotten from her. It was bittersweet. I knew she felt my presence but I also knew it was a grave situation. As soon as we got to the hospital I snapped in to "go mode" (that was what Mom did all the time). It was such a whirlwind of doctors and visitors. I remember they had to keep moving us to a bigger "family room" since we had so many visitors. The doctors tried their best but the extent of her injuries, from the fall, were too severe for her to come back to us. We were there with her when she took her finally breaths. It was a precious moment. I held her hand, kissed her cheek and whispered in her ear that she could let go. I promised her that I would take care of Daddy. ( I hope I have done her proud).

She was an outstanding lady. She knew how to love beyond measure. She gave so much to her family always putting her needs last. She was very adventurous. She and I were always doing something crazy. I remember one time in high school when we came home and caught some friends of mine toilet papering our house. Mom backed up and waited for them to finish and then followed them home. She was also very active in church. I know her best friend Peggy stated many times she couldn't have run VBS with out her best secretary. Mom was as true to her friends as she was to her family.

She loved taking vacations. We all have some wonderful memories of family trips.

She also had a great sense of humor. She was always willing to play a long. (As you can see in this next picture.) We had just come down from hiking up Diamond Head and really needed a place to rest and WOW.....they had a place waiting for us.

I used to love going out to show houses with her and I am glad that she showed me how a realtor is suppose to treat their clients. I am excited to carry on the real estate tradition in our family.

I could spend the rest of the night sharing wonderful memories of my mother but I just wanted to share a little bit of how wonderful she was. Although she is missed she is spoken of often. I love telling Bailey stories of her Mamaw. If I end up being only half as good of a Mom as she was then I will be doing GREAT!

I love you Mom and miss you. Thank you God for giving me such an awesome person as my Mother.

I want to start by saying this man is AMAZING!

Friday was my Dad's 78th birthday. We were blessed to have him over tonight for some good grub and fun. He has had a very interesting 10 years. It all started when he lost Mom in February of 1999. Then I got married, he got married, my brother got married, he got his first two grandkids with in a week of each other, got another one a couple years later, endured some hard personal life experiences and then found a wonderful lady to share time with, and is now has a 4th grandchild on the way (NO I AM NOT PREGNANT, my sister-in-law is)! Through all this (good and bad) his faith never wavered. He has always been an awesome witness for his family and anyone that he comes in contact with. I have always been a daddy's girl but when Mom died I really realized how much I need my Daddy. We have really grown closer over the past few years especially when I am getting on to Bailey and turning to Dad and apologizing for being that way when I was a kid...LOL! I love to see how he interacts with his grandchildren. It is pure joy. His only problem is not having enough arms. I cherish this one on one time I have had with my Dad the past 10 years. God has really created a special bond between us. I thank God for my dad everyday and pray that I can be only half as good a parent as he was to us kids. Dad is always willing to go to anything that pertains to his kids or grandkids. No matter how loud or chaotic it may be.

Thank you Dad for being true to yourself and taking such good care of us kids.

I love you so very much!

So my poor child is so cold that she won't put on shoes, sweater, jacket or even sweatshirt but rather she has chosen to sit in front of the heater and the fireplace (which you can't see but it is lit). It is actually a miracle that she has on clothes at all. Those that know her know that I struggle with that.

Traditions

As most of you know I grew up in a neighborhood that was, how should I say it, um...obsessed with Christmas lights. It was always a family affair to decorate the house. Dad and the boys outside and Mom and I inside. Great memories. Especially the year that we first displayed our Christmas star on the roof with a trail of light coming down to a manger scene! Scared me every time Dad and the boys got on that steep roof. Anyway Kevin didn't know what he was marrying into when he found me. I am still very much obsessed with Christmas decorating. If the lights are not perfect outside it drives me crazy....LOL!

Bailey has been helping as much as she could since she was 6 months old, and I LOVE it. Being able to carry on traditions and start new ones is what family is all about.

(BTW...today was laundry day so we look a little white trash...LOL!)

She had to get it just right!

Then she had to show Daddy how to wrap the lights on the tree.

Then we had to do our happy dance and show off her song she learned at pre-school.

SO CUTE!!!

She got a little distracted and had to tell Mommy that she was busy.

(Also I have the last 2 months of our lives to catch up on and will do so ASAP....I promise!)

Gymnastics

Bailey started gymnastics this year and is loving it. She is natural climber so I thought I should have her do something contructive with it. Bebe took a day off just to come see her!

Balloon Festival

This past week Joann and I took the kids to the

Plano Balloon Festival and we had a BLAST!

The balloons do a thing at dusk called "Balloon Glow". It is amazing. This year they aloud us to go down with the balloon to take a closer look.

After we got back from the wedding we turned around a few days later and headed out to Amarillo. Bailey had not met Maren yet so we hit the road again. Bailey loved playing and helping with Maren.

She had a captive audience for her book reading.

She helped Aunt Donna fix breakfast.
.....and did it with a big smile!

Then we spent the rest of the morning poolside.

Even Maren loved it! I think she could have floated for hours like that.

We took the girls to have their pictures taken as a surprise for Kevin and Max. We got some really good ones.

We had a great time and spent a lot of time relaxing and playing with the girls which is what both Donna and I needed. We can't wait to go back!

We had a great time at Ryan and Jenn's wedding. It was great to be loved on by Mom's side of the family. Mom and Aunt Helen were missed and talked of often. Their love was present. Bailey did great on the trip. Being the flower girl was a little overwhelming but she had a blast with the ring bearer, James. Hugs and kisses were abundant between those two. It was a long trip home but the whole weekend was worth every minute.

The Flower Girl (part 1)

So Mom and I are in Arkansas for Ryan and Jen's Wedding, they asked me to be their flower girl. I just hope Jen doesn't mind being upstaged by me because I am going to be sooooo cute. We kicked off the festivities yesterday with a fun bridesmaid's luncheon. I behaved myself very well. Especially when it came to the presents part.

Jen gave me the prettiest basket to carry down the isle, and a cool shirt that has flower girl spelled on it in sparkles. I love my sparkles!

This is my new best friend Alyson. Eric didn't mind if I borrowed her for a bit. She let me take a quick nap. Being a flower girl is so tiring.

I finally woke up and was off to my duties. The ring bearer is younger than me so I had to help him down the isle (or in other words tell him what to do).

He thanked me with a big ole hug and kiss.

Then of course it was time to take another nap.

Here I am today getting ready for the wedding. Mom got my curlers in early so that my hair would be pretty. As you can see in the backgroud I am watching a marathon of Spongebob. I love being out of my routine....LOL! Well Mom is coming so I gotta get off her computer. More to come later!

Reflection, Sorrow and Comfort!

As I drove home tonight from celebrating the life and death of Josh and Taylor's son, I couldn't help but think of this wonderful couple and the family (both relatives and church) that surrounded them. Josh told me that he was looking at his wedding pictures the other day and thought to himself "those kids have no idea what is in store for them". That both warmed and broke my heart. To me they will always be kids but now they are proud parents of a wonderful little boy who is dancing with God tonight. To see a family that is so dear to me hurting just kills me, but in the same sense their strength amazes me. Kelvin (Josh's dad) made me smile when he shared with me that he enjoys looking at Bailey's blog and laughing at all of her crazy pictures. That gave me a little comfort knowing that my Bailey Bug could bring a smile to a grieving grandfather. I feel so helpless knowing that the only thing that will make this easier is when they hold their second child in their arms. I don't know the extent of their loss but miscarrying a child myself I know that I didn't feel complete until I held Bailey in my arms for the first time. I have done a lot of extra hugging and snuggling with Bailey this week and I know she doesn't know why but I thank God for her all day long. When I picked her up from VBS on Tuesday I told her that Josh and Taylor were sad today and she said "Mommy, can we pray for them?", and threw my tear filled eyes I helped her do just that. I asked that you remember this family as they lay Nathan in the ground tomorrow and begin their journey of healing and moving on. I pray a house full of blessing for them. Thank you my prayer warriors for being so faithful.

Then it was off to Nana Sue's for fun and games. Bailey's favorite game was hide and seek. She would go hide and then call for Nana Sue to come find her.

Cousin's Playdate ~ The Zoo

We had a great time at the zoo. We rode the train (several times) had a picnic lunch and of course saw many animals.

Of course Bailey's climbing influence rubbed off on Austin.
Ariana had a good time riding the train and drooling.
The elephants were a big hit as usual.
These two have such a good time together. I can't wait to have Ariana join the mix.

A Wonderful Day!

The "cousins playdate" happen to fall on my birthday this month so we just made it a celebration of me..LOL...just kidding. We did take the kiddos to the bounce house and I am really thinking that Joann and I had a lot more fun than they did. We were fortunate enough to have the place to ourselves.

Austin had been practicing singing to me for a while and he did a wonderful job. Bailey is still asking who Shay-shay is...LOL

Kevin surprised me with a beautiful bunch of lilies and a fantastic cake. Here is a video of Bailey "testing out" the cake for me. She sang to me all day and for several days after that. So sweet!

"The Outside Zoo"

Well living in my "inside"zoo made me want to go to the "outside" zoo, so today Bailey and I took a mental health day and played with the animals at the zoo. We had a blast...rain and all. She had so much fun looking at all the animals. Her favorite was the rhinoceroses, or as Bailey says"noss-er-russes".

She also loved the elephants. In fact she picked out a stuffed one in the gift shop and went around telling everyone that this was her favorite animal...noss-er-russes were short lived.
She named it Ethan or "E-fin" and she says.

We noticed why the animals were so sluggish today....look closely at the above elephant picture...do you see the "keg"....guess they have been parting after the sun goes down.

I guess this guy snuck over to the elephant habitat for the night.

Bailey loves to ride all the automated animals too. She also loved feeding the birds. For those that have not experienced this, you can get these sticks that have bird seed stuck to them and the birds will even come and perch on the stick while eating. Bailey LOVED that. In fact she was trying to scoop the birds up with her stick.

She also rode the carousel for the first time. The queen of motion sickness did ok. But the look of excitement on her face was worth every queasy moment!

The train ride was another one of her favorite parts of the day...to be honest mine too!

Last but not least she had to have her lollipop.....SO CUTE!!!!

My Heart Hurts Today!

Dear Friends,

I don't normally do this on my baby girl's blog but, this has been a difficult week in the Wheat Household:
(Easier to list and then explain...lol)
1. Bailey and I have had the sinus gunk....Yuck!

2. A childhood friend lost his dad this weekend, and his mother was my mother's best friend (who is like a second mom to me).

3. I have some dear friends that have suffered with infertility and just found out that their baby she is carrying now is not going to make it.

First off, Bailey and I are getting better but this stuff just lingers on and on.

Second, please keep the Johnson's in your prayers. Matt lost his dad on Sunday to a very long battle with cancer. He was actually on the road when his father passed but he was able to whisper in his ear via his cell. They had been expecting this for a while but it is still never easy. Matt is struggling with all of the things that his dad will miss. He dad did live a very full life but Matt yearns to share more with his dad. His Mom, Peggy Mom II) is a very special person to me. She and my mother were so very close. Peggy's words still ring in my ear of when she found out that mom had died...she simple spoke "Oh Alice". I don't know why that has stuck with me for so long but it has. Peggy has been there for all the important times in my life, and even stepped in after Mom was gone for the bridal portraits, showers, wedding and finally she was there to welcome our little miracle into the world. Matt was also very close to Mom. He has shared with me on a few occasions that he still feels Mom's presence strongly. She loved him so. It was good to spend time with them but I hurt for them in this grieving time.

Last, and certainly not least, for years I worked with the children and youth in my home church and these two kids (not kids anymore) were two that I loved on. They have been married for a few years and are walking the infertility road. I recently learned that she is pregnant but the little boy already has a tough road to walk. I will not go into great detail as Taylor already has on her blog. Please, Please, Please lift up Josh, Taylor & Nathan in your prayers. This is a young couple that is on fire for God and is struggling with the path He has chosen for them to walk. Early in the pregnancy they learned that Nathan has a genetic disorder know as Trisomy 13. From what I read the baby, if he makes it full term, will probably not live. I can not tell you how heavy my heart is for this couple. They are using the same fertility clinic that Kevin and I did, so I know that they are in very good hands. I know that God has something big planned for them. I do take comfort in knowing that they are surrounded by a very strong support system both in family and in their church.

Still Processing the........PENNY!

Hello All,

Well here is the whole story...

When Kevin came home on Wednesday Bailey was telling him that she had a penny in her mouth and now it was in her tummy. Kevin and I are looking at each other in disbelief so we keep asking her if she ate a penny which she quickly responded "yes". We were also asking her what was in her tummy and she would respond "my penny". So at this point we decide to call her pediatrician. While waiting on a call back we start discussing the situation and Kevin just didn't think she could have eaten the penny because she would have choked......WELL......that sparked my brain and I told him that she did choke that afternoon but I just thought it was the goldfish she was eating. Nevertheless her pediatrician wanted to us to take her to the ER so we did. So several romps around the hospital and one xray later proved that our little girl was telling the truth. Yes, Bailey is starting to save for college in a very special way.

We had some good guesses even some that were not posted. I love the dog tag one the best. I should have said that the black spec was on the copy and not the actual xray. We are waiting patiently for the penny to make an apperance. LOL! She is doing fine and suffering no side effects. We will redo the xray this week if we have not seen the penny.

Mom's Trip to Meet Maren

Mom went to see Aunt Donna and meet miss Maren. I wanted to wait since all she does right now is eat, sleep and poop (ah the good ole days) :) I am going to go meet her this summer when I can teach her all my bad habits. Anyway, Mom had a great time. She even got to enjoy some true Amarillo weather - sunny to snow in 60 seconds....LOL. Dad and I missed her a lot. When she got back all she could do is go on and on about how wonderful Maren was and what a good mother Aunt Donna was. I can't wait to go see them. I was jealous that Mom also got to hang out with Grandma Brenda. She ROCKS! She even sent me home some goodies. Thanks Grandma Brenda.....hugs and kisses sent your way.

Ok for some of you this is going to show your true age...

How many of you remember the game show "Press Your Luck" (you know the one with the Whammys)? Well I loved it as a VERY young child, and they updated it to a newer one in the late nineties to just "Whammy". Well for those that are way too young to know what I am talking about there is a part in the game that you yell out "No Whammys, No Whammys...STOP!" I know it is one of those you have to be there moments but now you will be with this wonderful display "Whammy 101". It is a little long but it is so worth it. At first she is asking me if I am ready to stop. So she says that for a while and finally right near the end she says..."no whammy, no whammy..stop". This was just too cute not to share.

Elizabeth and I ran off to a girls night out this weekend to a very fun Miss America watching party. I was dressed up as Miss 1989...LOL. When we got home Bailey and Duke-Duke just had to try on our sash and tiara.

Poor Duke-Duke...he is such a good sport.

Pajama Day!

Today was pajama day at school. It was spent doing each others hair and nails. Then it was topped off with a big ole stack of yummy pancakes. Now that's my kinda day.

Fire Station Tour

We went on a tour of the fire station and as we were walking in Bailey tripped and fell on the aspahlt and then I ended up stepping on her finger, so we had the fireman fix her up. To this day she will be glad to tell you what happened to her finger..."Momma stepped on it"...LOL

The firemen were great with the kids. They put on all their gear and explained to the kids what they might see and hear if a fireman was coming to rescue them.

Bailey has been doing such a great job with her potty training and the urge even hit her at the fire station. They only have one bathroom so the Fireman knock and yelled in "All clear? Lady in the house" Then he change the door to reflect that it was now a "women's bathroom".

I am a big girl now!

I started my new school today and I was so excited that I helped Momma by handing my bag and lunch bag to my new teacher and then told Momma to have a good day as I ran into my new room to meet all my new friends.

(Momma just thought I was going to cry....haha!)

After 20 minutes of sitting on the toilet and watching "Oswald" our big girl finally went tee-tee in the toilet (or as she calls it "make a sound').

On this very wonderful, cold day my heart was warmed by a simple phrase from my daughter. We were on the way home when we passed by a church and she said "Mommy, that is Jesus' house." Way to go Baby Girl!!! Love you!

Now I have proof!

We have a very good friend that has been Bailey's personal photographer ever since she was an hour old. He took some amazing pictures of her in the bluebonnets this year and entered them into the State Fair photo contest and placed. His picture of her was was displayed for all to see. Several members of my family have gone to see it and brag to innocent bystanders including me who sat around for a little bit just telling people that she was my daughter. I think I scared a few people...HAHA! Anyway I wanted to share it with you too!

I had the awesome privilege of being a part of this wonderful woman's life. She was the kind of lady that always took care of others way before she even thought of taking care of herself. This was my mother's sister and a wonderful reminder of my mother. This past Thursday, I had the most wonderful opportunity of being there when my aunt walked through the gates of Heaven. There was such a overwhelming since of peace in the room as we sung and prayed her into Heaven. She was surrounded by love as she passed and greeted with the love of our Maker. How incredible to be a part of such an experience.

I love you Aunt Helen and thank you for all you did.

THE BUG IS 2 TODAY!!!!!

As I look at my little baby today I realize that she is no longer a baby but a growing little girl. It just seems like such a short time ago when Kevin handed me her to me for the first time. I love to look into her adorable blue eyes and just wondering what is going on in that head of hers. She has brought so much joy to Kevin and I. We are truly blessed beyond measure.

We had a wonderful day on Saturday celebrating Bailey. She showed off her new swing set and sand/water table and enjoyed eating her Lady Bug cake. Thank you to all her made her birthday a day to remember.

I have the awesome privilege of sharing my birthday celebration with my Northern Momma! Her birthday is the day before mine so we make into a two day event.

Bailey decided it was not as much fun as celebrating her birthday.

Well....the Bug decided that she needed to condition her hair a little today, so when I went to get her after her nap I noticed that the vaseline had some how made it down from the top of her chest of drawers and all over her room and her head.

We quickly took her to Lori's where we washed her hair 3 times and then put a combination of baking soda and shampoo on it and let it soak for 30 minutes. You would think that would strip anything out of your hair but noooooooo!

You gotta love the Bug and her crazy antics!

The Bug and the Bluebonnets

We took Bailey out with some friends to play in the bluebonnets last week and she had a blast.

The bluebonnets were so tall that she when she sat down she could barely see over them.

Here favorite thing to do was to play with her lip gloss while laying down. The lip gloss was used to keep her happy while sitting for her portraits.

Elizabeth and Duke-Duke joined in the fun with us!

All in all is was a wonderful day among the beautiful wild flowers!

Bailey had fun seeing all the animals. She even got to pet a bunny.

Well, we had a lot fun with our Aunt Elizabeth and Duke-Duke decorating our Valentine cookies. We wore our white t-shirt to insure that our cute lady bug pj's stayed clean. (It didn't work) We couldn't figure out who had more on them Bailey or Duke-Duke. They also had a growling match over a few crumbs on the floor. Bailey's favorite part was licking the spoon.

We celebrated our sucess with a little milk in our D-D-Dora cup.
